Meet Central America Mission Center (Honduras)Our Spanish Speaking Sister Mission CenterBefore Reunion of 2005, we began discussions of the
possiblity of developing a relationship with a Central American country
where the Community of Christ is active or developing. With the
increasing numbers of Hispanic speaking people moving into our area, we
believe this will help us to develope an appreciation for the backgroung
and culture that a large number of these individuals come from. In communication
with our Apostle and the President of the of the Council of Twelve, we
were granted permission to discuss a relationship with Terry Shelton,
the President of the Heart of Texas Mission Center and the Financial Officer
for the Central America Mission Center. These conversations lead
to Terry being a guest minister at the 2005 Far West MC reunion.
The task of developing the relationship and the type of activities and ministries that might develop out of this relationship has been given to the Far West Mission Center Outreach & Evangelism Commission. After much prayer and consideration, the commission has recommended and is implimenting several courses of action. These will be developing over the near future. At the moment, they have recommended and are initiating a Pen Pal Partners initiative. We are excited about the possibilities of this ministry and our own awareness of the development of the Community of Christ in third world countries, especially in Central America.
